Lekhini ("we", "us", "our") is a journal-first writing app for Telugu and English writers, developed by Shanmukha Vishnu. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

By using Lekhini (package com.shanmukhavishnu.lekhini), you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account & Profile Data

• Email address and display name (via email/password or Google Sign-In)
• Username chosen by you
• Bio and website link (optional, set by you)
• Profile photo and cover photo (uploaded from your device)
• Firebase UID (internal identifier)

User-Generated Content

• Quotes, captions, and poem text you write and publish
• Draft text saved before publishing
• Tags you attach to published quotes
• Comments you post on quotes

Social & Interaction Data

• Likes you give to quotes
• Bookmarks you save
• Follow relationships (who you follow / who follows you)
• Abuse reports you submit

Usage & Analytics Data

• App events and usage patterns collected by Firebase Analytics (e.g., screens viewed, actions taken)
• Device information and crash data provided automatically by Firebase

2. How We Use Your Information

3. Third-Party Services

Lekhini uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Google Cloud (Firebase / Firestore), subject to Google's security infrastructure. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS/HTTPS. Access to your data in Firestore is restricted by security rules tied to your authenticated identity.

Profile and cover photos you upload are stored in your device's local app storage and referenced by URL in your Firestore profile.

While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure. Please use a strong password and protect your account credentials.

5. Data Retention

• Your account data, content, and social data are retained until you delete them or delete your account.
• Analytics and operational log data is retained per Google/Firebase's default policies.
• Abuse reports are retained for moderation purposes.

6. Your Rights & Controls

• Edit profile data — update your display name, username, bio, website, and photos at any time from Edit Profile.
• Delete content — delete your own quotes, comments, and drafts from within the app.
• Delete your account — permanently delete your account and associated data from the Profile menu → Delete Account. This removes your profile, quotes, drafts, bookmarks, and follow-graph records.
• Report content — report abusive users or content via Quote Detail or Public Profile.

7. Children's Privacy

Lekhini is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
